Singapore American School, Mid-Pacific Institute, and South Kingstown High School. These three schools are where I spent my four years of high school. My father works for the United States Navy and part of the job is moving all over the world. This has allowedme to experience a very different high school experience than your average American student. These experiences have greatly affected my schooling. In my freshman year, my family and I lived in the foreign country of Singapore. I was attending the Singapore American School. This school is world-renowned and is considered to be the second best international school in the world. While I was there, I enjoyed some amazing experiences, as I was able to learn things in classes that I would not have normally been able to elsewhere. Another uniquepart of attending this school was the diversity of the students. I had great friends from countries like Taiwan, Japan, Australia, and even the Ukraine. I was living the high life, but halfway through my sophomore year, my father was transferred and my family and Imoved to the tropical paradise of Hawaii. In Hawaii I attended a school known as Mid-Pacific Institute, which was shared with the University of Hawaii. It was the most beautiful campus I had ever seen. It was nestled in Manoa Valley where you were almost guaranteed to see a rainbow everyday. The scenery was only part of its beauty; the schooling I received was superb. I was able to learn many skills in math and the sciences as they had state-of-the-art facilities. I will never forget looking out the window of my Physics class, down on Honolulu, Waikiki Beach, and the ocean beyond. My final stop was in good old South Kingstown, Rhode Island. My father had been transferred to Newport. Fortunately for my family and I, we had lived to South Kingstown previously when I was in the seventh and eighth grade. This helped me to make a smooth transition into my senior at yet another high school. South Kingstown High School was the first public high school I had attended and I was definitely able to tell the difference easily; I found that it really depended more on who was teaching the course. I found the differences very interesting. Of all the schools I have attended I enjoyed them all thoroughly. I loved learning in many different places all over the world and gaining experiences as I went. I consider myself a very lucky guy to have experienced different cultures.
